Top HVAC Training Schools in Hawaii

Looking to become an accredited HVAC professional in Hawaii? The path is straightforward. There’s only one accredited program in the entire state. Thankfully, more than one person in Hawaii will want an air conditioner from you after you attend.

Honolulu Community College is the only accredited HVAC school in the state of Hawaii. HCC offers an Associate In Applied Science for Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology. The program trains students to become trained technicians within the field. It is designed to allow students to identify their professional needs and desires at the beginning of the program so that they can tailor their education to suit the needs of their career. A Certificate of Achievement in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning is also available.

The Associate in Applied Science is designed to take 18 months to complete. The cost of the program is approximately $6,000, including courses and textbooks. There is insufficient data to be reported on financial aid, as too few students have obtained the degree in the past few years. Employment after completion of the program is at about 50%.

hvac training image1 Acquiring certification as an HVAC professional requires applying for a license from the state government. HVAC professionals are considered Contractors and must apply accordingly.

To become licensed, you must satisfy a set of requirements. First, you must provide proof of workers’ compensation insurance. You must also provide bodily injury and property damage liability. Bodily injury liability must be met at $100,000 per person, and $300,000 per each occurrence, while property damage liability must be $50,000 per each occurrence. Thirdly, you must have a local place of business–a P.O. box is not sufficient. Finally, you must pass an exam on business, law, and trade.

Honolulu Community College aids its graduates in meeting these requirements on their way to professional employment.
