On the other hand, the Mitchell Technical Institute's Heating & Cooling Technology program prepares you to work with all the standard elements of HVAC installation and maintenance. It also provides an education in mechanics, electricity, and sheet metal. Those who graduate from the Mitchell Technical Institute are prepared to enter the workforce as independent, self-employed contractors.

Oglala Lakota College offers both a one and a two-year option for certification, though not specifically in HVAC. Their Associate in Applied Science in General Construction includes an overview of HVAC technologies and maintenance, as well as preparing students to find gainful employment in other forms of construction-related enterprise.
